Frequently Asked Questions
Credits
On what conditions is a credit granted?
The most important condition is that you are of age and employed. In addition, you have to live in Switzerland or Liechtenstein or be a cross-border commuter. The credit is granted after your personal information has been examined and checked in compliance with the Consumer Credit Act (KKG) and bank-internal guidelines.
Approval of a loan is forbidden by law if it would lead to over-indebtedness on the part of the customer (legal stipulation as required by Art. 3, Federal Unfair Competition Act).
What interests and costs am I to expect?
The interest rate is between 9.95% and 14.50%. The exact interest rate, however, is determined after your application has been processed. This happens due to your personal conditions and, possibly, on the basis of earlier or existing agreements. The cost of credit results from the amount of credit and the interest rate. Use our Cash Credit calculator in order to inform yourself about further details.
When do I receive my money?
If a positive financing decision is made, an offer is sent to you which you need to sign and return. After a legal seven-working-day waiting period has expired, you can have the agreed amount of money paid out in cash at one of our branch offices, or you can have it transferred to your account. You find further information concerning the application process here.
What documents do you need from me?
In order to be able to process your financing request, a fully completed application form, a copy of a document of identification (ID or passport, or identity document for foreign nationals) as well as a current pay slip are required. We will contact you if further proofs are necessary, e.g. proofs detailing your housing, working and/or economic situation (e.g. preceding credits).
Does my residence have to be in Switzerland?
In principle, we can grant financing only if you are resident in Switzerland or in the Principality of Liechtenstein. (Cross-border commuters, who work in Switzerland and possess a Swiss bank account, can also benefit from our services.)
If you live abroad and do not work in Switzerland, you can contact a GE Money Bank finance company abroad.
What is the maximum amount I can receive?
The finance amount is based on your personal financial conditions and varies from person to person. When completing your credit application, just enter your personal information as well as your desired amount. We will be happy to prepare a personal offer for you.
Approval of a loan is forbidden by law if it would lead to over-indebtedness on the part of the customer (legal stipulation as required by Art. 3, Federal Unfair Competition Act).
Will my employer be informed about my application?
No, of course not. Your application will be processed discretely and kept confidential.
What is the minimum amount for a credit?
Granting credit is possible starting from as little as CHF 500.
When is my first instalment due?
Under normal circumstances, the first instalment is due one month after the money has been paid out (on the first of each month). For further information, please check your credit agreement.
How do I know what amount of money I am still obliged to pay?
Contact your customer adviser or contact one of our branch offices.
Can I increase the amount of credit during the term of the agreement?
Yes, you can. In principle, increasing your credit is possible, depending on your economic situation. For detailed information, please contact your customer adviser or directly complete an online credit application.
Do you charge an issuing commission?
For Cash Credit Plus an opening fee of CHF 100 is charged, as opposed to Cash Credit where there is no opening fee.
What happens if I fall ill or have an accident?
We recommend you take out Payment Protection Insurance* in order to insure yourself against undeserved insolvency (e.g. in the event of accident, illness, disability or involuntary unemployment). You receive further information on this website or by calling 0800 814 800 (free of charge).
Are the interests deductible from taxes?
Private individuals can deduct their interests from the income tax. The necessary certificate of interest is automatically sent to you once a year.
